What is the track condition like?
The overall terrain of the 2011 Trek the Trail is generally flat with one short rocky ascent in the first half. The trail is covered in loose gravel and is for the most part, wide enough to support a dual carriage way.
The following sections are unsuitable for persons who use wheelchairs or have mobility limitations:
- at 3.7km a short steep ascent/descent
- at 4.3km the ground slope is uneven
Do I need to book or pay to take part?
No, Trek the Trail is a free event, where you just turn up on the day to take part.
Where can I park on the day?
Parking, including accessible parking, will be available on the day. The 2011 parking location will be the Chidlow Village Green where free buses will transport you to either the half way start point at Doconing Road or the start point at Ron Evans Park, Wooroloo.
What times will the courtesy bus be running?
Free shuttle buses, including an accessible bus, will run between the start, the half way point and finish of Trek approximately every 30 minutes. The first departure will leave Chidlow at 8am for cyclists and 9am for walkers. There are several drop off and pick up stops along the trail as well.
How will I get my bicycle to the start of Trek?
Cyclists can have their bikes delivered to the start points with our pick-up service. Look for the sign at the Chidlow bus stop. You will be issued with a ticket which must be presented for collection.
Will there be toilets available?
Yes, toilets, including accessible toilets, will be located at strategic points along the Trail. The 2011 toilet locations are listed in your Trek Passport which you will be issued at the Chidlow Village Green bus stop.
Can I bring my dog along?
No. Animals are not allowed at this event.
Will more information about the event be available on the day?
You will be given a Be Active Passport on the day containing event information as well as a map. Larger formats will be available if required.
